Hey Buckeye dog fans
Hey, this is Robin at FRD. Look at these local spots for dog families.
If distance is scaring you from getting a puppy, don’t be. We offer free FaceTime calls anytime, and we also have several delivery options for you.
First, here are some local places to attend or activities to do as family. Then I will go into more detail about delivery and calls.
Parks
One top choice in the area is Godown Dog Park. It offers a insane amount of running room and several shady spots for those hot sunny days. They also have a dog washing station that you can wash you dog off before your best friend hops in the car.
If you are more worried about having a smaller dog the Scioto Audubon Metro Dog Park has different sections for small dogs and large dogs. It also has artificial turf so your dog won’t get so dirty. It is also located downtown which offers a great skyline view.
Activities to do
The best thing to do here is to spend the entire day tailgating with your friends, especially your best friend, before heading to a Buckeyes football game and watching them crush their opponent.
Farmers market is also a great place to go if you need some fresh produce or something to do on a Saturday.
Farm raised to city life
We understand that adopting from over 200 miles away might seem too far, but it’s not a problem! We offer delivery options, or you’re welcome to drive up and pick up your new companion yourself.
We do also offer free FaceTime video calls whenever you like. Not only to see your new friend but also to see how things are going and how fast the little one is growing.
In closing
I will update this page over time with new info and resources. Thanks for visiting us online and if you want to see us, just set up an appointment or call (574) 596-0350.

Came from a loving, nurturing environment
Can’t say enough great things about Robin and the way he cares for his puppies.
It was evident he truly gets to know each pup’s personality and takes time to understand the kind of family they’ll thrive in.
Hudson has been such a joy—sweet, sensitive, and full of personality… it’s clear he came from a loving, nurturing environment that gave him a strong foundation.
We cannot say enough great things
We cannot say enough great things about Fawn River! Our puppy from there came healthy and happy. He is the most well behaved and loving dog, and was up to date on all his medicals when we received him.
Robin was also so great to work with, being really responsive, flexible on meeting time with us to come pick up our pup, and answering all our questions.
Even after we took Walter home, Robin continues to check in and answer any questions we have as they come up. I can’t recommend Fawn River enough!
Robin called FIVE minutes later
Where to begin?! Very long story short we had a puppy from someone fall through, after some google searching, found Fawn River. I left my info on their website, thinking I’d hear from them a few days later, low and behold Robin called him FIVE minutes later ???? it took me a few moments to gather my thoughts as I was not expecting to hear back so quickly… Koa (Benji) was going to be ours just a few days later!
Koa is an amazing boy, who loves to cuddle, play and just be around you. He’s very social, loves meeting anybody and everybody and wants to play with every dog he meets! He’s a beautiful, healthy boy and we couldn’t ask for a better addition to our family!

What is the BAB program?
BAB (Badass Breeder) is a program created by Jeanette Forrey to help breeders empower their puppies and give them a voice in what they need. It also makes a big difference in finding the right families for each puppy and the right puppy for each family.
Here’s what Jeanette has to say on why she created her program:
Puppies are raised to believe in themselves and be the best they can be through guiding emotional responses, meeting their innate needs in order, building confidence through intentional and purposeful curriculum and handling that aligns to their sensitive developmental benchmarks, and lastly, evaluating each puppy prior to placement to ensure their voice is heard and they are honored and respected not only with their breeder but with their new human as well.
Jeanette, founder of Badass Breeders
Here’s summary of a list of benefits for puppies raised on the BAB program.
Better Stress Handling
When the puppies are a few days old we start with Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS). This improves their stress responses later in life.
Improved Confidence
Early Scent Introduction (ESI) is also started at a few days old. It is a procedure to help with nose awareness and confidence.
Puppy/Family Temperament Matching
At 7-8 weeks we do temperament testing. This is a test that helps us place a puppy with the right family, and helps you pick a puppy that will thrive in your home.
Why do I want a puppy raised on the BAB program?
This is something we have been working on over the last couple years. It’s not something that happened overnight because it takes a lot of time.
We love our puppies and parents, and we always try to do our very best in raising and training our puppies. The BAB program has helped us so much because it’s a proven, structured approach to raising confident puppies. It has made such a difference in our puppies and how they transition into their new homes.
Better stress handling
We start when they are a few days old with Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS). This improves their stress responses later in life. We do this is by applying gentle stressors like gently pulling on their tail, rubbing between their toes, gently rubbing a hand over their eyes and face, turning them upside down. We do this all with great care and with much love.
Improved confidence
We also do Early Scent Introduction (ESI). It is a procedure to help with nose awareness and confidence. It enhances their ability to identify and react to scents. Similar to ENS this is introduced at days 3-16 of a puppies life and is very beneficial to their development.
We introduce the puppies to many new things each week starting at week 4. New toys in the whelping box and exposure to many sounds. When they are older they go outside to the play area to experience even more.
Puppy/family temperament matching
At 7-8 weeks we do temperament testing, this is a test that helps us place a puppy with the right family and helps you pick a puppy that will thrive in your home. This way everyone gets a voice in the placement process.
All of this takes a lot of time and energy, but the benefits have been so amazing since we have started that it just makes sense to keep doing it all– better placements, fewer problems, and fewer puppies that need to be re-homed.
